Hello all:

Sorry about the lack of information. We are getting packed and ready to return home. No time the last few days to blog, but Rick and Bill arrived back safely. We have been ministering non-stop since then. We fly out early in the morning, so we are wrapping up here, packing and last minute visits. Rick will blog all the pics and info when we are home. Thank you for your prayers and we appreciate them for our flights home. Love you all...Barb

April 20,2010

Hello All,

Back online, but there will be no pic's as we only have dial-up. I am up in the city of Darkhan, which is where I was 3 years ago at this same time participating in a women's conference. Sue and I travelled up here Monday evening. We spent time today with Melanie who is co-pastoring with her husband in a church here. Tonight we spent time with about 12 of their women who are in leadership. Had a great time. Doing women's meeting tomorrow evening and then back to UB on Thursday.

Rick and Bill are touring. They took a train and will be back in UB on Saturday. Our time is pretty full. The adventures we have can be fully understood by anyone who has been to a developing nation. Taxi rides are sometimes more "thrilling" then amusement park rides. I think the taxi drivers specialize in the game of chicken with the oncoming drivers. This becomes especially exciting at night when vehicles may or may not have all of their functioning headlights. And seatbelts.....well let's just say they must be under there somewhere, but I have yet to find one. For a child who was full of fear about every little thing, the Lord sure has brought me a long way. Things you would never consider at home, you find yourself doing without apology. It's really quite amazing. We have met some very interesting people and know that God has been moving among the people we have been meeting with. Our schedule is quite full and here it is around midnight and Sue and I have just had dinner. Ah, life on the move with someone else making all the decisions. Certainly cures a person of any control issues they may have. God is good and I will try to go online soon, but may wait until back in UB when we have wireless. Can then post some pic's and give more details. Thank you for your prayers, very much needed and appreciated.

Rick, Bill and Sheika visited Sukhbaatar Square. It is in the heart of UB where they have their parliament buildings. It is here that they have on the steps a statue of Genghis Kong, their national hero.

Barb has had some swelling in her feet ever since we landed in Mongolia. It has turn into an infection, so we had to get some antibiotics for her. She spent most of the day sitting with her feet elevated.

This evening we had more students from the nursing school over to our apartment for dinner and bible study.

Today we were invited to tour the nations only children's hospital in UB, Mongolia. The director of the nursing school manages all here interns at the hospital. After Barb and Sue spoke to her nursing students on Monday, she wanted us to see the hospital also. There are 300 beds for children and 300 beds in their maternity ward for mothers. Children with serious conditions come in from all over the country, because the medical clinics in their villages are not equipped to care for them. As a result, mothers come with their child and stay in the same bed with them until they are released from the hospital.

All the cost for the children is paid by the government. We visited many rooms full of children and gave out gifts to them. You will notice that Rick and Bill had to wear capes while in the hospital because there is so much dust in the air outside. We thought we were Superman.

After leaving the children's hospital, Rick and Bill toured Gandan Buddhist Monastery.

This evening Barb and Sue had their second night of the women's conference, while Rick and Bill spoke at a young men's cell group.

.

This evening Barb and Sue were speaking at a w omen's conference here in the capital city. There is a great need for Bible training. Just like in the days of the early church, false doctrine from their culture wants to mix with Christianity.

Rick and Bill did more teaching and training with a group of men from the capital city. These men are so hungry for the Word of God.

Monday April 12th

Today was another busy day here in Mongolia. The weather has been very cold during the day. It has not gotten above zero degrees. With the wind chill it is much colder than zero. As you can see from the way Barb and Sue are bundled up.

During the day Barb and Sue Davidson (pastor from England) spoke at the University of Mongolia's nursing school. Our host pastor's wife is a student there and was asked to have them come and share about Africa.

This evening Rick spoke to a group of cell leaders from the host church.

Hello from Mongolia

Hello One and all,

So sorry it took so long to get logged in here. We have been very busy and then had no access to the internet. We had great flights, although it did take 25 hours and we were wiped out when we got here. We are staying in a nice little apartment, a guest house, and finding it very comfortable. It is definitely not a mud hut in Africa. After our arrival Friday night we rested most of the morning Saturday and then in the afternoon went to a water baptism at the church. About 15 people were baptized in water and what a sight it was. Most of the people in the church are under 20 years old, in fact they said 70% were under 20. I have never seen such an exciting water baptism and it has definitely upped the expectations for what water baptism should be. It is so much like what I imagine the book of Acts to have been like.
Sunday we attended church and shared a bit and then our friend Bill Davidson shared the Word. There is such hunger here for the move of God it makes me feel somewhat ashamed and then a bit indignant that we do not have the same hunger for God evidenced in our lives in America. Now, I mean the church in general, not all of you dear friends, or all the Christians in America. I wish you all could be here with us because I feel sure that a fire would be ignited or re-ignited in you as you witness the enthusiasm with which these young Mongolians seek after the Lord.

I will try to check in again asap. Sorry if this is a bit choppy....still a bit wiped out from the travel and the busy-ness. Having a grand time and truly do wish you were here. We will try to post pictures, but can make no promises as to when. Doing the best we can.
Love,
Barb (and Rick)

Busy Day.....

Well, it has been a crazy day to say the least. I apologize to anyone I was supposed to touch bases with before I left. Been up since 4:30 this morning, and have to be up tomorrow morning at 3:15. It's going on 10 pm now. Don't think I will bother sleeping, which will enable me to sleep on the flight from San Francisco to Beijing ; all 11 hours of it. Maybe. Our total flying time will be about 15 hours, not counting layovers which total about 10 hours. What fun!
Finally packed and ready to go. Thanks again for your prayer and support. Next post should be from Mongolia, Lord willing.

Off to Mongolia!

Hello Friends and Family,

We leave this Thursday, the 8th on our trip to Mongolia. We have created this blog so that you can stay updated on where we are and what we are doing. We will post as often as we can get access to internet. We are flying back home on the 26th. There will be many ministry opportunities while we are there. Some we will be able to post about, but probably not all.

We are meeting Bill and Sue Davidson from Manchester, England. They are the ones who invited us over to minister with them. Barb went over to Mongolia 3 years ago with Sue Davidson and a team from Pastor Chris Baer's church, located in Gig Harbor, WA. Barb is extremely excited to be returning to Mongolia as the people there are so lovely and are extremely hungry for the Lord and greater understanding of His Word.

Please check in so you can keep track of what we are doing, and so you can pick up specific prayer points, as we will rely heavily on all of your prayers that the Lord's work will be accomplished.

Thank you all so much.....Barb
